[Resolved] rounding amounts 2 decimal places

Hey,

Here's the issue.

I have an amount which to start with has been incorrectly worked out with VAT.

Let's say the starting number is 39.99
This is then changed to 46.98 as the system at works rounds the VAT up in all cases (some ploy there I think!)
I then need to get back to 39.99

Obviously using the ROUND function rounds it down as it sees it as 39.983.

I have thought of the CEIL function but as far as I am aware this cannot handle decimals.

Anyone got any ideas

I had a brainwave, not sure it's correct, but hey - it works

Here's what I came up with:

$amount = round($amount/1.175, 3);
$amount = trim($amount);
$lastdigit = $amount{strlen($amount)-1};
if($lastdigit<5) {$amount = $amount+0.01;}
echo"$amount";
