[Resolved] sending data with disabled form fields

hey peeps! 🙂

another problem at my front as usual!

anyways straight to the point

i have a form which consists of 3 fields,

• name

• headline

• story

the writer field is disabled so that my users can only post message which appear to from them

but when they click submit the page which sends the info to the database returns an error message

saying that the field has not had any data entered in it

i even tried getting my data by using $_POST["writer"] but that didnt seem to work either

any help would be great

A disabled field is just that, disabled, and as such wont send data. Change it to readonly and you should be alright. Have a read of this: http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/interact/forms.html#h-17.12
