Detecting browser

How do I detect the browser using PHP? What's the best way then to configure the HTML and CSS; do I use a different style sheet according to the type of browser?

Hmm, I do browser detection with JavaScript.

If PHP will do it, it'd be from the Server's User-Agent string, I imagine. You might look around at php.net....

Yes , you are right it's the $HTTP_USER_AGENT string. I actually had a look around at phpbuilder and found:

http://www.phpbuilder.com/columns/tim20000821.php3

...which was just what I was looking for.

Btw, Frog, I used that article in my website too. Be aware that it was written for PHP3 and that you can reduce a lot of the code by converting it to PHP4.
