SQL Server on standalone machine ?

Hi !

I am having a problem connecting PHP to MS SQL Server 7.0. Everything works fine when a network cable is plugged into my machine (and it gets an IP address from the DHCP server). But when the machine doesn't have an IP address, PHP (under Apache) cannot connect.

Weird problem since
connection is attempted to 127.0.0.1, not a name
Multiprotocol is enabled in the Server Network Utilities from SQL Server, aswell as Named Pipes

Anybody any idea ?

Before starting your php session, try opening your browser to http://localhost to initialize your tcp/ip stack

I've sometimes found that 127.0.0.1 doesn't work unless I'm registered as being on a network. Localhost always works, though.

"localhost" didn't work either if I'm not mistaken.

The problem has been solved by adding an "alias" for 127.0.0.1 in the "client network config utility" ...
