Large file upload via browser HELP!!!

Ok...
- Either HTTP or FTP upload
- ini_set() on every variable imagionable
- on a host and can't manipulate the server, PHP install, or Apache config very much

Any file bigger than 1MB or so and the browser times out...

The only functional way I have found is to open an direct ftp connection ([url]ftp://user:pass@domain.com[/url]) in a frame, and we all know that isnt very secure, and along with not being secure, I can't parse user-entered information along with the file, or limit how many files are uploaded and not tracked doing that.

PLEASE HELP!!!
I have scourged through too many mail lists over the last 2 WEEKS and have found nothing concrete to help me with this problem.

I truly appreciate any help anyone might provide, and will try to find a way to conpensate for doing so.

If the browser is timing out its not a PHP issue... it's the browser.

Find a way around the browser, maybe use Flash or Java or something client-side... aside from that I don't know.

which browser?? And have u set this: <input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="1000000"> ??? What are the values of max_execution_time, upload_max_filesize and post_max_size in your php.ini??

You misread Natty_Dreadlock, the browser is timing out, its not a PHP issue at all, it's not that the file doesn't get uploaded... it's that the browser times out before it even finishes uploading.

ya ok but at least the hidden form element <input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="1000000"> should be used by browsers in order to limit the possible file size... I don't know if IE uses it... Was just an idea
