Login Problem

I want to be able to stop members from registering for more then one account.

It has to be really effective. Please if you have an idea let me know.

you could record their IPs in the DB withg their user information and then in the register script, check to see if the IP has already been used. Also, many sites do the same with e-mail address, but that's not too effective.

checking ip's is gonna be kinda not worth it, if you have peeps on corporate lans and/or behind proxy servers, you may limit a large group, cuz your script will think they all have the same ip

I don't think there is any way you can 100% Stop it..

IPs - They can Proxy
Cookies - They can delete
Emails - Change email, duh 😛

Well what I decided to do was not allow register to use same email if its in the system.

After carefully trying to figure that out. It was only thing to do.

Now cookies would be great if we had control as to where we put that cookie 🙂 Making it harder to find.

I wouldnt like that my self. What goes around can come around thats for sure.
