2 x Order by - is it possible?

Wondered if someone could assist in how I can use a select statement for the following;

I have 100 items, each time has 2 fields, DATE and TYPE. In this example, if we use dogs for sale, it will make it easier for me to explain.

I have created a 'last 10 additions page', and want to ensure that the results showed are in the order of Date and then by TYPE.

EG, the records may be
12/10/02 Labrador
12/10/02 Boxer
10/10/02 Alsation
11/10/02 Boxer
11/10/02 Dalmation

I would then wanted this sorted by DATE descending, and then these results inturn and sorted by TYPE ascending) as follows;
12/10/02 Boxer
12/10/02 Labrador
11/10/02 Boxer
11/10/02 Dalmation
10/10/02 Alsation

I can get it to sort by DATE but am unable and unsure if it is possible to run another sort on the result.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Certainly it's possible; just put both sort criteria in the ORDER BY clause, separated by commas.
"ORDER BY this ASC, that DESC"
Try that out, see which around your two criteria should go.
