[Resolved] top level includes

i have a silly question,

i have a directory structure that has an includes folder and say a pages folder. Within the pages folder i have several sub-directories.

I would like the php pages that are in the 'pages' folder and sub-directories to reference files that are in the top level 'includes' folder. how is this done?
