Problem with sending an application form in HTML format

I am writing a web based application form for a school. I have made the form and the PHP script that the form will use. I would like to have the script send the variables from the form in HTML. I have included a copy of the script. There is one problem, I have written the script to send the form variables in HTML (pretty much exact as the original form), however when I have a look at the form in the e-mail, I find that all that has been sent is the source code for the message part of the script ($message).

Can someone help me solve this problem? I am using PHP mail() function.

Variables inside single quotes do not get expanded. Try using 'heredoc' syntax so your variables get expanded and you don't have to bother escaping all those "s

$message = <<<EOT
<html>
etc
etc
etc
EOT;

where the final EOT marks the end of the $message contents.

make sure there is nothing on that final line after the ';' and that there is nothing before the EOT;

So my script should have no "s, or should I leave the "s in? (The attachment has the "s left in).

I tried the script with the "s left in and it sends the e-mail except when I look at the e-mail it still has the HTML tags, however it does include the information that I entered into the form. What I want is the e-mail to be viewed with the HTML formatting so it looks like what it would look like on the Internet. In other words I don't want the HTML tags to be seen in the e-mail, however I do want the e-mail to have HTML formatting in it.

What is 'heredoc' syntax, and what does EOT stand for and what does EOT do?

I use EOT (end of text) but it can be anything you like

As for your email problem, the attached mail function was posted on this forum some time ago but I cannot remember who to give the credit to.

Keep them. I suggested the heredoc syntax so you wouldn't have to make any changes.
