Is there a way to put the results of mysql table query into an array, and the use the sort function to alphabetize them, and then display them?

Basically, get ProdCategory from this table, make results into array,
sort(array)

then print the standard while $i<$total display?

Does that make sense?

Why not just use the ORDER BY clause in the select statement? It will return the records in the order you want. If you key the field that you will be using for sorting, this will be quite an efficient operation.

Well what I need to happen is this:

This is for a jewelry sales site, and one of the categories (unlike the others where products are just displayed) has to have them categorized by designer. But, the format of the site is really supposed to go like this:

DESIGNER 1

Product 1

Product 2

DESIGNER 2

Product 1

Product 2

Alphabetizing is only half of the work. I need to find a way of sorting mysql database results into the layout above. Say I have a field called "designer", I need to group all products that say "designer1" together at the top of the page, and those that say "designer 2" on the rest of the page.

But, ORDER BY would work, yet the customer could not tell where one designer ends and the next begins.

Does that make sense?
