xml and php coding problems

I am not a coder or programmer just an end user but i have a problem and hopefully somebody will help.

I recently got some xml and php stuff done where by i could use a flash admin panel to create flash presenations based on a template. Basically you enter the information and a picture and a sound file and it keeps compiling the slides, when you hit create a php script creates an xml file.

when you click on the link then the file it put together into a flash presentaiton.
In either case, everything works fine on my local hard drive but when i upload it to my web server it doesnt work.

I have phpdev4.0 installed on my computer which installed php and apache and that is what is running on the web server too.

Any idea why this would work on my local computer and not on the web server?
Basically when uploaded to the web server there are all kinds of mistakes in the text and the sound file never loads.

It might be something with the configuration of the program you are using (the PHP application). It sounds like the PHP program is creating and using files. On your computer, it knows where to put and get these files, but on a web server these locations would naturally be different.

What is the name of your program? Is there a configuration file?

Not sure by what you mean what is the name of the program.
There is some files in the root directory and then an images folder and then a sound folder as well

you are right there are 2 php files that do the configuring they are called createxml.php and createxmlfr.php (the second used for a different languge)

I tried to upload the entire folder that worked on my local drive to the server and it didnt work. I tried to change the tag lines to all sorts of differnet things and point it to differnet servers without any luck.
