I'm trying to install phpbb onto my website. Once i have it installed it brings back these three errors and i'm not sure what i need to change:

Warning: main(./config.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\forums\phpBB2\common.php on line 111

Warning: main(): Failed opening './config.php' for inclusion (include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\forums\phpBB2\common.php on line 111

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at c:\inetpub\wwwroot\forums\phpBB2\common.php:111) in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\forums\phpBB2\common.php on line 115

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know what I can do. the page is http://192.168.1.101/forums/forums.shtml

If you have other suggestions for the site please let me know. It's also kind of boring i'd like it to be more exciting please I'm trying to learn so all advice is welcome.

this means you don't (resp. your web server user doesn't) have the permission to read a file required by phpBB (may be the directory and/or the file permissions). under linux you can change permissions using chmod. I don't know it for NT/2000/XP.

the third message is just a follow-up error generated by the previous ones.

btw, the url you provided points to a local net (192.168), it isn't accessible from outside.

Thanks, yeah i figured the url issues out or at least that no one could actually access the page, any ideas on a way to put it up in a way that others can see it?

does anyone know how to change the permissions on the windows server so that people can read those pages or so that they will open properly?

I installed the software yesterday and had the same problem as yours. I am working on it too. Have you figured out yet? I will post it once I got it. 🙂

right click on the directory that phpbb is installed in and uncheck the read only box at the bottom. That is if you are using windows. If you're using something else i don't know for sure.

I just solved the problem. It seemed that it's a different than yours. I found out the problem came from the config.php. After the installation, the file changed. But for some reason, the access right for anonmyous was missing in the setting. I added the right back to that file and the problem solved.
