I'm looking for a download system thats fairly easy to setup. Specifically I'm looking for something similar to fileplanet that has a queueing system, but more like an irc fserve script like invision or excursion, in that I can allow only one download at a time, but allow 1 person to have multiple queues, for example.
In case you're wondering, this will be used on a gigabit LAN as opposed to using the built in windows file sharing. The problem I had before is with multiple file transfers going at once, the network traffic slowed to a crawl because the harddrives simply could not keep up (7200rpm EIDE). Since I'm not going to invest in 10k rpm SCSI drives just for this, I figured some sort of queueing system would be the easiest way to have it transfer only 1 or 2 files at a time at max speed, w/o subjecting my poor IDE drives to that much stress. If you know of a better way to accomplish this on lan please share.
Thanks.
