Installed php4 but apache gives error

Hi
I tried to install php4.3.2 on linux.
Every things goes smoothly untill after install make, I restart apache, and it fails to restart.

I get an error that can not load libphp4.so
I search my directory and changed the path to this file.

So then when I try to restart apache, it simply fails without any error message.

I appreciate any help.

did you have any error messages in your error_log ? Which version of linux do you use ?
