header problem

if this is classed as double post i'm sorry (although its kinda a different topic)

using either

    header("Content-type: application/octet-stream");
    header("Content-disposition: attachment; filename=\"$name\"");


@header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=$name"); //gets filename
@header("Content-Description: Download File"); // describes what you are doing
@readfile($name);

when my script has been run and the file downloaded i find that the file is empty, what has been download has a file size
of 0kb and when opened does not play any sound at all

i was wondering if this is a script problem or a internet explorer problem (my com)

could anyone advise anything?!

and if stolzyboy is reading this then i apologize as he also advised me to do this, but i thought i didnt need the content type as i was using mid files, sorry 🙁

is there anyway to set it to 2 file types?
.mid and .mmf

hhmmm.............

although the download worked and the file didnt have a 0kb file size the files are corrupt and do not play

create the new file type

if in winbox
my computer
tools
options
file types
new

then follow the wizard...
u can have unlimitted (maybe) of new file type...

you can always get the file type and put it into a variable then
put it into the content-type with a variable

just like you did for the filename

no, what i'm trying to do is because the files download from my download.php script will be both mid and mmf, so if i only put it as
1 content type and the other type was downloaded it wouldnt work

and like i said if you had noticed from an earlier post the files seem to be corrupt

if i remember correctly you want $url in this place

readfile($url);

that held the full path

but for the filename, you want $name

like this

well that is correct stolzyboy, u have a good memory 🙂 then again u would need 1 for learning prog languages

however although the script worked i still got a file which was not the right size, and didntnot play anything at all in my media player

i think i might just have to do this another way

if anyone cannot help me fix this, could someone direct me to a compression program which lets you select multiple files and compress them to a seperate archive

eg
1.mid -> 1.zip / 1.mid.zip
2.mid -> 2.zip / 2.mid.zip
3.mid -> 3.zip / 3.mid.zip

without having to archive each 1 seperately
