I'm a Newbie!!

Hello,
At this point I'm trying to enter $ENV{'REMOTE_USER'}; this command into a url such as http://myurl.com/edit?user=$ENV{'REMOTE_USER'}; and this doesn't appear to be working correctly. if anyone could give me the correct code to use in a URL such as this it wold help us!

If you have access to the php.ini, check to make sure your register globals is on. If not, then use $_GET or $HTTP_GET_VARS to strip off the user defined variables.

(I assume by "not working", you mean, you are getting some error about a your site variable not being defined or something likw that)

I'm not too sure of $ENV, but I believe the correct approach is:

echo '<a href="edit?user=' . $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] . '">linktext</a>';
or
echo '<a href="edit?user=' . getenv('REMOTE_ADDR') . '">linktext</a>';

This is exactly the same thing that I had posted earlier, just a different format that I hoped was a little bit easier to understand.

So this is what I got mind correct me if this is wrong?
