Spliting a string.

Say i had a string that was 100 characters long, including spaces.

I then want to split the string into 25 characters per section and insert a "<br>" tag, but i dont want this to be inserted into the middle of a word, so i want it to be slightly intellegent, and put it at the end of the word.

has anyone got any ideas or better methods.

look for better ideas than mine loooll:

$string="very long sentence...";
$string=explode (" ",$string);
$counter=0;
foreach ($string as $word) {
     if ($counter==24) {
          $result.=$word."<br>";
          $counter=0;
     }
     else $result.=$word." ";
     $counter++;
}

that actually look to be a pretty simple way to do it. I'm sure that there is probably a regex way too, but since I have such a tough time with regex, I think this looks much easier!

I haven't tested it but this might work:

 $length = 25;

 $mynewstring = ereg_replace("(.{1,$length})[ .,].*", "\\1<br>",$string);
