configure script

First of all, I'm very new to PHP and Linux.

I've managed to install RedHat 7.2 and it came with PHP3.something.
I loaded php-4.2.3 and it worked great. output of phpinfo(); shows the correct build date and everything.

I tried reconfiguring it but when I look at phpinfo(); it still shows the old configure command and build date. For testing purposes, I've removed the php.ini file and restarted httpd and phpinfo(); still reads like I never made any changes. Any Ideas?
libphp4.so also shows an updated date of today.

did you make install or replace the libphp4.so manually after recompiling it ?

Yes, I did make and make install.

edit:
I've even tried installing 4.3.2 but that didn't work either. Do I need to 'uninstall' the old version somehow or something? Like I said, I'm new to all this Linux installation stuff.

Hi,

I need more information:

First of all, please post the configure parameters you used when you reconfigured php.

Second, please look at the httpd.conf from where the php module is loaded.

Third, please post the first lines of the output of phpinfo() (The part from the beginning to the Zend engine part).

This will help us too see what's going wrong 🙂
