http upload script question...

k, strange question.. can u use an upload type script to upload a url?

say i wanted to upload http://www.msn.com/images/picture.gif

i've built a script that will upload from my comp, and if i click on browse then type in a url it will download that file onto my comp then upload like normal, but i just want to be able to copy it streight over :S any ideas? thx

grrrrrrrr i swear, am i the ONLY one who has ever had this problem! no, copy won't work because the owner ends up being apache and ima rape apache... i'm so frustrated lol. all i want to do is create a file on the fly where i become the owner not apache! :S jeebus, i think it's time for my nap!

Not really possible if you're running on some shared host or something where the default httpd user has (quite rightly) no permissions to do this. "nobody" will end up owning the file. One solution is to run PHP under a wrapper, but I'm not even sure if this service is available to anyone outside of the customers of Pair Networks (who offer this service and who I've hosted with since 1995).
