Is there or can there be 🙂 a fopen or ftp type of script that does to a website dir and get all files in the dir?

I would like to be able to collect images from a server. I know this sounds like 'stealing' but actually, I have permission to link to the images....I would rather download them and host them on my machine to make things run faster.

Any such code available?

Off another server, no. This could be achieved with FTP, but I don't know how to use that very well. Through HTTP, you could only get a list of files if there was a generated list (and even then, it might not report all files), and you'd have to break that into multiple strings to create a file array.

Can you assign a wildcard to wget?

For example something like....

wget http://www.xxx.com/images/*
