Problem sorting, first G, then D, then F

Hey,

I have this code where I fetch players from my database.
A player can be either a D a G or a F (defenseman, goalie or forward).

When I list the players on the site I want first the goalies to be displayed, below the defensemen and last but not least the forwards.

In my SQL-query I sort either by "position DESC" or "position ASC"... but since G is in the middle of D and F... I never get G displayed at the top of the page.

How could I solve this?
It should sort first by "position=G", then by "position=D" and then by "position=F"

This might not be your answer but.. One possibility is that you could have an extra field in your database with tinyint or something where G = 1, D = 2 and F = 3. Or vice versa and sort on that.

Just make three query's:

$sql1 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table WHERE position='G'");
$row1 = mysql_fetch_array($sql1);
foreach($row1 as $goalies)
{
echo"Goalies: ";
echo"$goalies <br>";
}

$sql2 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table WHERE position='D'");
$row2 = mysql_fetch_array($sql2);
foreach($row2 as $defense)
{
echo"Defense Men: ";
echo"$defense<br>";
}


$sql3 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table WHERE position='F'");
$row3 = mysql_fetch_array($sql3);
foreach($row3 as $foward)
{
echo"Fowards: ";
echo"$foward<br>";
}

Something like that should work,
