Hey folks it's me once again with a question...

Ok, so I'm working threw (or through, I don't know) this tutorial about image creation in PHP, just to get to know it. So, I'm typing away, typing away la la la and come to find out I don't have the GD lib. on my comp! So... I download the php_gd.dll file. I went into my php.ini file and added the extension like so:

;extension=php_gd.dll

Now I'm supposed to put that file where all my extensions are... and I don't know where that is??? Anyone know what's going on and what I need to do? Thanks guys and gals.

check ur php.ini file

; Directory in which the loadable extensions (modules) reside.
extension_dir = "./"

name the extension_dir to the path u put the gd dll
path means, NO file name.

I can't get it to work, here's what I've done in the extension dir.

I've done sooo many variations of putting the dir. in there. I know I'm missing something simple that I'm just not seeing. Anyone have a clue?

Another weird thing I noticed in my php.ini file was that php_gd.dll was already in my extensions, yet it's not supported? hmm...

um, please tell me you removed the semi-colon in front of that line? basically, i just had to d/l the lib, put it in, i believe c:\windows\system, or it could have been just c:\windows

then put the line in php.ini extension=php_gd.dll (without the semi colon).

the semi-colon makes it a comment, and that's not what you want. then u just restart apache and you should be good to go. that sounds to me like what is wrong, but that's just cuz of ur first post 🙂 good luck

Ok... I removed the ; :p however, now I'm getting a different error:

The procedure entry point zend_error could not be located in the dynamic link library php4ts.dll

I know it's something to do with the directory... I can't figure it out... here's the entire section I'm working on. Anyone see what I'm doing wrong?

that's what mine looks like :S

im on an xp box running apache gd2 and php 4.something 🙂 and it works for me... hope that helps?

😕 I can't get it... no clue what's wrong.... down with GD!!!

i'm running php v.4.3.2 w/ gd on xp pro.

my php.ini
extension_dir = ./extensions

in C:\PHP\extensions
resides the gd dll(s) php_gd2.dll, php_gd.dll (and all the other extensions form the downloadable zip from php.net actually).

extension=php_gd.dll
;extension=php_gd2.dll

and uncommented php_gd.dll of course in php.ini

may want to try changing your line:
extension_dir = "\php4\" ;
to something like:
extension_dir = ./extensions
or
extension_dir = ./
depending on where you put the dll(s)...

o, and are u restarting apache? i know that may sound like a dumb question if u are, but, if u'r not, that could be why it's not working 🙂

It's not gonna work folks, I've tried the above suggestions and it's still not working. It's determined not to work for me 🙂. I appreciate all your guys help.

one more sugg. the new version of php auto installs the gd lib 2.0 (i believe) .. maybe try that? good luck if u keep tryin 🙂
