please can someone tell me why the thumbnails are not working.

ok the code for display.php is as follows.

i literaly have 3 bit of code

one for the image
one for the image description
one fot the image area

Are you sure the codes, which you posted, stand in the file?
because I can't see any String "Details:" at the site, it should be print out.

Can you post the complete code of that script ? The directory to the images seems to be correct (I'd suggest to urlencode the path to an image in the url to the detail script).

btw. It would be better to disallow the listing of the image directory. I was able to just request the directory itself and got a listing of all files.

Hi,

you wrote that it worked fine before. Did you mean your local installation ?

It might be that an older version of php is installed on the live server so you might want to try $HTTP_GET_VARS instead of $_GET. Just look for the version with a little phpinfo() script.

To secure the images directory you can try to put a .htaccess file into that folder that disable the indexing, e.g.

Options -Indexes

the properties of the images show http://localhost/... . Can it be that this is stored in the database or something like that ?

To come around that problem I would suggest to only save the relative or absolute paths without the domain to make sure that everything still works if you move to another host 🙂

your right, i remember importing that table in to the DB without changing the paths...

I have now changed the paths of them all.

yet the next button does not display the next image.

like before, this has all been working fine off my home pc.

You need to replace all $GET with $HTTP_GET_VARS in your scripts. I saw in your last code snipplet that you still use $GET on the GET variable "thumb".

The title of your homepage is index.gif which might not be what you want.

One more thing, some of the images are saved with an extension of .JPG instead of .jpg. They will not be found because the server reads the filenames case sensitive. I'd suggest to either correct the paths in the database or to rename the image files.
