safe mode!

I installed PHP 4.3.1 on Mandrake 9.1. I'm running okay, except it's in safe mode and I can't traverse the file system, which is needed for my intranet.

I know I have to turn safe mode off, but I do not seem to have a php.ini file on my system.

I don't want to use the ini_set() function if I can avoid it. Anyone know where I can look for it?

if you don't have a php.ini file on your system, then you don't have php installed on your system

you can run a phpinfo page, and it will tell you where the configuration file is
