$http_post_vars

Just had a clean install on our server of PHP 4.12

since then, scripts have been unable to see variables from forms submitted using using the "POST" method.

"GET" works fine - i guess because the scripts get the vars from the querystring....

i have tried using $HTTP_POST_VARS["example"]; but no joy...

anyone got any clues??

hmm... maybe try using the $GET and $POST arrays instead?

since PHP 4.1 you can use

$_POST["example"], try that...

its really odd - i've never come across this before...

btw, did you set method="post" for the test form?
html forms default to method="get"

the method is set in the forms to "post"

i'm guessing php must have been compiled very differently to the previous build.

i just tried the most simple form ever... passing the contents of a text field to another page. again POST is not picked up on the processing page either with explicit var names $HTTP_POST_VARS['example']; or referencing the var from the name of the textfield...

i can access the contents of querystrings fine and the results of GET submissions...

hmmm i'm stumped 🙁

Try...

extract($_POST);

This will cause any variable that is ted by the form to be extracted accordingly.
In other ords, if you post FName, LName and Email, then the above code will pull out:

$FName = Value Entered
$LName = Value Entered
Email = Value Entered

You can confirm using:

echo $FName;
echo $LName;
echo $Email;
