PHP and MS Sql Server newid()

is there anyway I can call the MS SQL Server function newid() from PHP?

I'm not too familar with newid() other than it generates a unique identifier.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I just found out about the uniqid function in PHP...that will fix me up..
