Client Side Caching

Basically I want to be able to cache images associated with a page, wihout caching the page itself. I have been playing unsuccesfully with a javascript implementation of this, and I was wondering if anyone had come across or knew of a method of forcing the browser to use existing images in its cache directory, but not cache the page itself.

If you could point me in the right direction I would be grateful, its frustrating when you have a library of several hundred books on development and not one of them gives you an answer.

The only way I can think of is to make a PHP script that outputs the image. The script would be cached and would output the corresponding image. You can use a header() to force the cache on that PHP script, which won't force a cache on the main page.

Hmmm...I think that might work, thanks for the idea. I'll tell you if it works.
