PHP MySQL and a HTML List

Can any one tell me how to fill a html list/combo box with php? The list should be populated from a mysql table. I just need the basic syntax.

1). Do your query

2). Get the desired variable from the table

3). Print it out like this:

<select name="select">
<? echo "$var"; ?></select>

You can condense this code a bit:

$result =mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table");
while ($info = mysql_fetch_array($result,MYSQL_ASSOC)) {
  echo("<select name=\"select\">".$info["varname"]."</select>";
}

Also, the previous script is assuming that $yourvar will automatically be an array (foreach), but it is being set as a variable ($result['yourvar']), which should result in an error.
MYSQL_ASSOC just fetches an associative array, which goes by name. If you want to go by number (like a default array), you can use MYSQL_NUM.

read your code more carefully line 16 reads

echo("<select name=\"select\">".$info["model_desc"]."</select>";

you haven't closed your parentheses:

echo("<select name=\"select\">".$info["model_desc"]."</select>");
