strange error

I just update php and I was working with php 4.3.0 and everything was ok but sice I updated php to 4.3.2 I get this error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in d:\www\admin.php on line 57

and that line is:

$plink="<a href=\"$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']?action=edit\"><<< Previous Page</a>";

what's wrong ???

It could be a problem on the line before that one.

Come to think of it, you can't do that.

Do this instead.

$plink="<a href=\"{$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']}?action=edit\"><<< Previous Page</a>";

You can't put complex variables inside a string without enclosing them in curly braces.

Ok I'll try that I don't know what's new in php 4.3.2 that send that error because I have tried my file in php 4.1.1 and in 4.3.0 and everything was just fine, but when I updated php send that error that I didn't saw before, anyway thanks for the help I'll try what you told 🙂

I think that simpler still is:
$plink = "<a href=\"" . $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] . "?action=edit\"><<< Previous Page</a>";

however, that may or may not be the problem, since even in earlier versions of PHP that restriction should exist.

no I don't think that's the problem because in previous versions of PHP works and also I'm parsing that variable for EVAL() so the $_SERVER variable is changed to the filename

anyway I gave a step back to php 4.3.0 🙁
