Can someone recommed a good free smtp server software, so that I can send emails from my site.

I am new to this, so if there are some smtp servers that are easy to install, that would be the best thing, I guess.

What OS are you running?

You can install an SMTP server with Win2000. Throw your CD in and click on Add-on Components or something like that. i think it's located under IIS.. maybe networking services.. I think WinXP supports this, too.

If, by some far-off chance you're running a *nix box, just go to freshmeat.net or sourceforge.net and search there. All sorts of stuff..

If it is XP Pro then it came with IIS/SMTP server

For home edition, you may try ArGoSoFt SMTP Server. They had free version once, not sure about now
