relatively secure database

Hello,

I've setting up a member database, and while I'm not collecting really sensitive information, I'd like to take at least basic precautions to make sure that people's e-mail addresses don't get ripped off.

I made the database interface from a tutorial that warned that there were some security considerations that were overlooked.

I guess my primary concern is how people might be able to get my database password.

I'm basically clueless on how people will hack databases so any advice would be appreciated.

I guess that I've made a somewhat nebulous request for information, so if you know of any tutorials aimed at security, MySQL and PHP, let me know about that too.

Unfortunately I don't know of any tutorials on security for members scripts, however it may be helpful to post the tutorial you used.

(plus I'm wanting to do a site similar!):p
