PHP / MySQL / Apache - Pages not displaying correctly

Essentially, some of the pages distort or do not show at all (this page cannot be display) when accessing my local apache server. Sometimes, the pages appear to "reload" by themselves, but never display correctly.

I'm using: Apache 2.0.46 / MySQL 4.0.13 / PHP 4.3.2

Here is an example of a distorted page:
http://www.pfpub.us/temp/ss.JPG

It should look like:
http://jukebox.nerocom.us/index.php?g=ff3

This is new. It did not happen when I set up the server on another computer. However, I was not using apache2 at the time. The problem happens in both IE and Netscape.

it's a little bit difficult for me to find anything since I don't have the contents of the template script or the tables.

There is one error I see,

Did you try to installa apache 1.3.x on your local server to check if this might be a apache 2.x / php-4.3.2 issue ? php is still some kind of unstable when used with apache 2.x.

I've a php 4.3.2 / apache 2.x / MySQL 4.0.x installation on my local server, too, so I can test your code if you wish, but I need the database data and the template.php for this.

I'd suggest to test it with apache-1.3.x on your local server first. It might be a problem with the part that manipulates $temp_array_line[0].

I seriously need to rewrite that code. I don't think that does anything at all.

I had a new, updated, and pretty version but it was destroyed in a freak format / website crash / corrupt backup problem.

Apache 1.3 works fine. I couldn't get it to corrupt the page.

I'd suggest to first send a mail to the php people because it might rather be a php than an apache bug ... but who knows ?

One more question:

Did you install php on apache 2.x as cgi module or as shared module (LoadModule ...) ? Could make a difference 🙂

Honetly, I don't know, but this is what I used to in the httpd.conf file:

AddType application/x-httpd-php .html
AddType application/x-httpd-php .phtml

Thats what I used for Apache 1 and 2...

Ok,

you're using php as cgi. If you want to try to use php as loadable module with apache 2 you can try the following but this only works if you downloaded and used the zipped package. The php people recommend strongly to use php as a Module, not as CGI.

Here are the steps if you want to try it:

1) remove the lines you mentioned in your last post
2) copy php4ts.dll to your system/system32 directory
3) copy the contents of the dlls folder to your system/system32 folder
4) make sure that a php.ini exists in your windows/winnt folder
5) httpd.conf

Apache 2.x:
Add the line
LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache2dll
to the end of the LoadModule block

Apache 1.3.x:

LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache.dll
to the end of the LoadModule block

AddModule mod_php4.c
to the end of the AddModule block

Apache 2.x/Apache 1.3.x:
Add the lines

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php3 .php4 .htm .html .phtml
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
somewhere below the AddModule block

Then restart apache and try it again...
