Sharing DB with phpBB

I have a website that I want users to register for so I can collect some data for their profiles, but then I also don't want them to have to login under a seperate username/password/profile for the phpBB message forum I have setup.

What are some (of my) options here? Or what would be a good way to go about this...

well, I've not delved into phpBB, so I don't know the specs of the code, but I'd suggest just using the authentication table(s) from phpBB for authenitcation of your site users...just link a table of your extra information to the phpBB users table on the primary index
