php module still doesn't work on Apache

I am presented with a problem. When the apache server starts it tells me:

httpd: Could not determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName

The server will start, but I still get a download pop-up when I try to open a php file. I follow php.net's instruction's exactly and it still won't work.
Any suggestions?

you are not browsing to the php file with File -> Open by any chance, as that won't work, you need to run it thru the browser like:

http://localhost/testpage.php
