mail() not working

i am having a problem with mail() function while using
mail($email,$subject,$body,$headers); its not send any mails
and niether its showing any errors
my php version is 4.3.1
what might be the problem ?? please help

either you dont have sendmail set up correctly or your php.ini has the wrong value for sendmail_path, or you have bad arguments to sendmail in php.ini

mail doesnt return false if a message is not sent, it only returns false if data doesnt get passed on to mail..

one reason you are not able to send any mail is probably because the email address(es) are not valid.
