Question for Win32/IIS Gurus...

What is the best method to use to send emails? Does php have a function that somehow integrates with IIS or Exchange Server?

I have always used php on Linux sites hosted offsite, but am working on a project that will be stored and hosted locally on a Win32 box using IIS, mySQL, and php.

All help you can send would be handy...

I kind of figured that since Win32 is not very popular amongst the phpers out there...

My web host recently added php to their windows/IIS servers. The mail() function works just like it does on *nix. I don't know how they configured php to accomplish this but it can be done 🙂

you need an smtp server installed, which should be if you are running iis's, then you need to make some configuration setting changes in your php.ini, voila

Yeah, I pointed the SMTP to the DNS Server, setup the relaying in the Exchange Server to allow the mail to relay from the web server (it's a different server), and it appears to be working fine... I sent some test emails, and monitored the bandwidth, and it seems to be going OK.

And since it is an intranet, it appears to be safe being behind the firewall and all... (but I am going to implement some security)
