LONGTEXT field

Hey,

How would one go about displaying just a small number lines of a LONGTEXT filed of a MySQL Database?

Would like to display a preview of the contents of this LONGTEXT filed (between 5 and 10 lines, not finalized yet. Still working on the layout of the page.) and when the user clicks on the link that follows, a new window is opened and displays all the contents of this filed.
