file raed and write problem

hi everyone,
i need to read and write to a file that resides out side to the directory which the programe resides. for example,

my php file called 'test.php' and the file i want to read and write is called 'readFile.txt'. thies are the two paths which that file resides,

test.php - contentmanagement\read\test.php

readFile.txt - contentmanagement\readFile.txt

how can i do this????

i dont want to give full URl as http:\......., as a matter of fact i gave it and it didn`t work.

really appreciate if any body can give me an answer.

Try '..\readfile.txt'.

Remember if you use " for the strings use \ instead of \
