Hi,

echo "Sorry, we couldn't find the file (".$_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"].$_SERVER["REQUEST_URI"].") you were looking for, looks like one of our links is broken.";

What have I done wrong, this tells me that we couldn't find the file c:/website/public_html/errors/404.php, which is what I meant...

Can't seem to figure out what I've done wrong,

p.s. I used the search page and got a fair number of results, but couldn't see any relevant ones, apologies if I missed something obvious

i'm not really sure what is your question.
did you get that 404.php page and you are showing us the code of 404.php
OR
are you are creating a 404.php page and want to know if the code you have in it will do something?

please explain in more detail.

Hi,

The request URL in this case, it the URL of the 404 page. What you are looking for is $_SERVER[HTTP_REFERER], I think.

Referrer probably isn't going to be sent, since it's an HTTP redirect. Try setting up your 404 handling via .htaccess or httpd.conf so it doesn't redirect (it should stay as wherever you entered the filename).

The problem may well be then, that I'm using an absolute URL, rather than a relative one, will give it a go.
