question about MySql and php in safe mode

hi. i've never ever written anything in php, but i want to create a website that draws data from a mysql database (that is also not set up). I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out if this will work if my web hosting company has php running in safe mode. any free scripts out there that anyone can recommend? thanks

Yeah, mySQL support (if it's not disabled) will work from safe-mode compiled PHP.
