help with parsing code

hi below is a simple php script which im trying to implement but its not executing it.
A html file which calls the php script when the user presses the calculate button, but instead of returning an answer, it just displays the php code.
Any ideas????

There are several condition why you get php in code in return:

Your PHP is not installed
Apache is not executing PHP
You name your document as .html without adjusting your webserver

what else... I guess ... dat's all.

One of two possibilities.

The file is saved with the extension .html or htm but the webserver is only setup to execute PHP code for pages with extension .php.
The server does not have PHP installed.

thanks for pointing out the problem but im not sure how you would activate this .html in the webserver.

.php works fine but the html calling php doesnt.

I think your header peace will not work too !!
It's a bit garbled..

I think you cannot send a link as header...

Remaove html tags in Header function !!!

For the rest..I really dunno..

why remove html tags?
the php will work out the problem
then print out the result

This will not work:

header( "Location: <a href="http://localhost/calculate_form.html" target="_blank">[url]http://localhost/calculate_form.html[/url]</a>");

This in stead will work:

header( "Location: [url]http://localhost/calculate_form.html[/url]");

Header will only follow a link..
Not a Html link !!!

Assuming:
- Your PHP file is fine, I mean PHP works fine when you try to execute

- You understand PHP and webserver script and you configure your web server well

then try this:

It's better to save your file in .php not html.
To enable html to contain php script you can edit your httpd.conf if you are using Apache. Other web browser, please read PHP Manual on installation on different web server.
