php_hostconnect: connect failed

Hi,
where can i get some usefull information on this warning?

WARNING php_hostconnect: connect failed ....

This appear when i try to get a file with file("http://site/somefile.html").
On my pc work fine, on remote not. But i can't stay on-line forever 🙂

phpinfo say to me that allow_url_fopen=1 on server too...

if your trying to open a file on the server and allow_url_fopen in enabled try something like this;

$fp = fopen($file,"r");

$getid = substr($fp,strlen($fp)-1);

 print "Could not open $getfile or $getfile does not exist";

Warning: fopen("http://.../servlet/consult/index.html", "r") - Bad file number

Can't i get some extended error information ? e.g. the error because connection is failed...

p.s: what mistery, this error is on my test server, but in master server all work fine... thanks however
