sluggish performance of mysql in win98

hi

i got a machine setup with mysql and win98 and it seems sluggish

the CPU is a Duron

i know that going to win 2 k /linux would be better etc but it aint really an option

please let me know what you think

if you can let me know what the reccoemeneded specs are

If you've got an older box laying about try putting RedHat on it and running MySQL under that. Even if it's just a 200 MHz box, it will likely feel faster running linux MySQL than a ~1 GHz machine running MySQL under win98.
