Almost there, but Apache ignores new PHP version

I have just installed PHP 4.3.2 to replace 4.2.3 (a long process on Mandrake which involved installing Bison and Flex also), and all seemed well.

But then I find that Apache, when asked to supply phpinfo(), serves up the old 4.2.3 information. Where in the configuration files have I got to notify Apache that I have upgraded?

Have you restarted the actual computer that apache is running on. I had something like this on windows with apache and i accidentally solved this when I turnedn on my laptop the next day :rolleyes:

Yes, I have restarted the system and I still get the 4.2.3 info.

This is despite the php.conf file stating that it is version 4.3.2. There must be some config or .ini file that needs tweaking, but I can't figure out which one it is.

Looking through my Apache config file, the main reference is to a file called 'libphp4.so'. Is that where Apache gets its information about the current PHP environment?

If so, why was that not updated during the make: make install process, and how do I force this file to be created anew?

It is that file, and it's a bug in PHP, apparently, which came to light in October last year......

The upgrade process doesn't create the file because of some problem with linked libraries.

Check out Bug #19918 at php.net before you upgrade your PHP version.
