I am working on a portion of a site for an internet radio station in which artists will be able to upload samples of their music for download from this station's site.
As of yet, I can't figure out how to determine if the uploaded file is a valid mp3. I'm sure there is some check that can be quickly performed on a file to determine if it is an mp3 music file, but I don't know what it would be.
Also, I need to get some basic info like song length fpr a database. There is a class in the snippet library (ID 1048, class.id3.php) that has been of some help...but it has trouble with variable bitrate mp3's.
So, I think what I need is a resource that outlines mpeg "header" standards, or something similar to that. It's not exactly php, so I'd be very happy if someone could even steer me to a more appropriate forum. But if anyone's done this before...
