Local Database

Hello,

I am wondering how I can make a database on my computer that is not online, but it is a file on my computer -- perhaps an access database or a excel spreadsheet. And with it, i could access it with php script (either in a internet explorer or a stand-alone program). I heard of a program that can do this but I'm not sure which it is.

Also, with this program, would I be able to have the database on one computer and have others acceess it from the one computer (so if I have to update the database I would not need to update it on each computer but rahter only on one).

install apache, php, mysql and a network card and its done.
