New page question

I have a script that calls articles from my database and displays them as a link. The link has something like blah.php?id=$id and when that link is clicked the appropriate article is displayed. How do I make that appear as the only thing on the page and not with everything else? Example:

Page.php
Hi welcome to the site, click the link.
<a>link</a>

Link is clicked...

Contents of link are only thing on page.

Umm... don't put anything else on the page? I'm confused. Can you explain in a bit more detail?

Sorry I thought I was pretty clear. www.currentpolitics.com/articles.php -- There's the best example, the site itself. When you click on that link the only thing I want displayed is the article starting with the white bolded article title, nothing else.

I'm still a bit confused. All that site does is have the layout, let's pretend this is their template:

content
</html>

Now all they did is replace content with the information from either a db or a file using include() or fopen() and fread().

The logo and menu is using a header.inc file and the same holds true for the footer. The article itself is stored in a database.

Okay, well there you go.. just echo the content between the header and the footer.

Is there something I'm missing? It seems you already knew the answer (although, it could just seem and nothing more).

I'm confused, the "brighter" blue, the middle cell that contains all of the information. If you go to that link in the above post, you'll see (or should, anyway) white text and then a gray text link. When you click that link (which is entitled, "Affirmative Action = Negative Reaction?"), it displays the article AND the link still, I just want the article displayed, not the link as well. Is that more clear?

Oh, oh, I see. You'll need to echo that only if $GET["articleid"] is empty:

if (empty($_GET["articleid"])) {
  //echo the link
}
else {
  //echo the article
}

Keep in mind that the link is being displayed a while loop. So that's still OK to change then? If the link is clicked the article should be the only thing that is displayed. Nothing else.

I take it you're getting the links from MySQL as well? If so, just put the while loop inside the if.
