Capital Letters

I have imported data into a mysql database. One of the fields is a text descrition of color.

The imported data is all in captial letters....so when I place the data on the webpage it looks silly....example:

You have just bought a RED sweater and a BLUE something....

How can I display these fields in lower case? Is this a problem with mysql table or a format in php?
