Ok My Opinion.
Depends on your project, and how great it is. If your company wants it, and you want to continue it, maybe not a bad idea to give it to them and help work on it more.
But if the project was for personal use to distribute it to the public itd be a waste of time and effort, to give it freely to a company that may make $$ out of your creation..
But then again it does come down to
How Good this Project is?
Will others want to use it?
can it be improved?
What is the project that im giving my opinion on?
And finally, if you want it to progress further?
