hide path (absolute?)-HOW?

This must be a very simple html question??!!
I am trying to hide my (absolute?) path of the file..like an example : www.mywebsite.com/index -> i want it to be shown as www.mywebsite.com .
How do i do that?
Any references?

if you use apache as a web server the default page is index.html or index.htm. If you have a file with this name and you enter www.mywebsite.com on you browser then you will not get www.mywebsite.com/index.html.

Please look in your manual for the web server and search for default page
